“Police officers from the Police Corps Presidium, in close cooperation with those of the Trnava Regional Police Corps Directorate, obtained information on a potential hideout being used by the wanted person,” Police Corps Presidium spokesman Martin Wäldl told the TASR newswire on October 8. “To be specific, it was a house in which Behan’s father had permanent residence. Based on this information, police action was prepared on October 7 and 8, and Behan, who was hiding in the attic of the house, was detained at 3:30 on October 8.”
Behan was then escorted to Piešťany Police Corps district headquarters before being returned to Leopoldov prison, Wäldl added.

Behan was sentenced to eight years and eight months in medium-security prison for armed robbery. He managed to escape from Leopoldov prison on June 2 and was at large since then. Three prison guards were sacked on June 10 for allowing Behan to slip free. The police have not yet charged anybody.
