A former senior Health Ministry official and a doctor from Banská Bystrica in central Slovakia have been sentenced to a year in jail after admitting to their guilt in a Sk2 million ($45,000) bribery case. Both have appealed the verdict.
The accused are alleged to have taken the bribe to arrange state permission for the Svalz firm to provide medical services in a non-state facility.
