BRITISH authorities extradited Chris Denning, a former music producer, to Slovakia on February 12 to face charges of producing child pornography, the ČTK newswire wrote.

The District Court 5 in Bratislava decided on February 14 to deny Denning bail while he awaits the charges, citing his past record of proving a flight risk.

Denning has been on Slovakia's wanted list since 2004.

Slovakia is not the only country in which the Briton has faced charges. A court in the Czech Republic sentenced him to 4.5 years in jail for sexually abusing boys and he has spent time behind bars in Britain as well.

The extradition has attracted attention because Denning, 66, worked with the Beatles and helped British pop stars Garry Glitter and the Bay City Rollers to launch their careers.

The Plus Jeden Deň daily tabloid wrote that Denning has confessed to producing pornography in a rented apartment in Bratislava's Petržalka district, but said that the boys told him they were of legal age. The boys, who were allegedly drug addicts from southern Slovakia, were paid for their work, the tabloid wrote.

The boys should also be receiving royalties from the production, an unidentified criminologist who investigates human trafficking told the tabloid.

"They got a few thousand crowns for it, but Denning is surely earning many times more," he said.

Police have been on Denning's trail for decades.

"He agreed to be extradited to Slovakia," a police source told the tabloid. "He wants to finally have peace."

Denning could face up to 10 years in a Slovak prison.
