Brussels: Slovak universities and education ministry are deficient

On February 20, the Pravda daily states that Slovak higher education institutions and the Ministry of Education got a cold shower from Brussels.

On February 20, the Pravda daily states that Slovak higher education institutions and the Ministry of Education got a cold shower from Brussels.

According to an evaluation from the European Association of Universities, lecturers at Slovak universities cannot speak English well enough, do not travel abroad to widen their experience and have an insufficient publishing record.

The evaluation also stated that the ministry is responsible for overly complicated laws, red tape, a shortage of funds and insufficient transparency of financing.

The evaluation was made by a group of over fifty experts over a two-year period at the request of the Slovak government. SITA
