Brutal 10-minute wind storm rips apart property

Villages and cities in the Liptov region experienced a "whirlwind of a storm" lasting all of ten minutes on August 11 that damaged homes, blew down trees and cut off electricity supplies. According to the Liptovský Mikuláš District Office, "several million Slovak crowns" in damages were incurred.

While no deaths were reported, the roof of one building containing four flats was blown clear off in Jamnik, which also reported that "entire forested areas were flattened," according to the news agency TASR. Also, in the nearby village of Pribylina, one of every two homes was damaged by the winds.
