On November 15, a car with two Czech citizens crashed into a bus in the Branisko tunnel in eastern Slovakia and the frontal collision left the driver and passenger in the car dead and the driver of the bus injured, the TASR newswire reported.
The bus driver was first taken to Levoča hospital and later to Poprad. His condition is still grave after several surgeries. The tunnel was out of operation from 18:00 when the crash happened until midnight. Fire fighters had to be called to the site as the bus driver had to be cut out of the vehicle.
All fifteen bus passengers are safe and uninjured. This is the first crash of this kind since the new tunnels were opened in the Slovak Republic. One of the vehicles turned into the opposite lane but which driver made the mistake is a matter of investigation, TASR wrote. TASR
