Bush and Putin to meet in Bratislava

US PRESIDENT George Bush and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin
will meet in the Slovak capital Bratislava on February 24, official
sources confirmed.

According to the Pravda daily, the two presidents will discuss the fight
against terrorism. Moscow will also try to gain Washington’s support for its
membership of the World Trade Organization.

Slovak security units will work together with their US and Russian
colleagues to prepare security measures for the summit.

Slovak Prime Minister Mikuláš Dzurinda and Foreign Affairs Minister
Eduard Kukan confirmed the unprecedented meeting in Slovakia.
Bush will be the first US president to visit Slovakia.

According to Pravda, Bush will arrive in Bratislava one day before the US-Russia summit and will use the day for an official visit to Slovakia.

"It is an expression of appreciation and trust for us to be given the
chance of organizing such a meeting," minister Kukan said.
