Business environment is worsening, warns Slovak Chamber of Commerce

The business environment in Slovakia is worsening according to the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry whose survey shows that a total of 71 percent of 170 contacted companies consider that the business environment is adverse, the SITA newswire reported.

Only two percent of the respondents said the local business environment was favorable. The chamber's president, Peter Mihók, said that entrepreneurs in Slovakia do not expect any improvement next year, either, adding that the judiciary and various types of legislation were the spheres that most deteriorated.

The chamber also said that in 2010 Slovakia can expect three kinds of increases, two of which are negative: unemployment and the government’s fiscal deficit and one positive – in GDP growth, which is, however, expected to be rather constrained. SITA
