The business environment in Slovakia worsened in the third quarter of 2013, but at a slower pace compared to previous quarters, according to the Business Environment Index (Index podnikateľského prostredia-IPP) which is prepared by the Business Alliance of Slovakia (PAS).
The business environment received 68.1 points – a decline in 2.88 percent against the previous quarter – based on surveys conducted among PAS members.
The slow-down in the worsening of condition for doing business has been the result of the limited activity of government and parliament in legislation that could in future negatively impact the business environment and employment. However, the dissatisfaction with the bad situation in judiciary, not being tackled in the long term, and with the state interference in the economy continues.
In Q3 2013, the biggest decline was in the law enforceability and functionality of the judiciary; with the rating declining in 8.01 percent to the current 9.7. The second biggest decliner has been the effectiveness of state husbandry and access to state help – declining in 7.68 percent to 16.1.
Lately, several items grew but except for one all of them fall into the category of subjective influences of forms on the business environment. Information openness grew the most –1.68 percent – and the attitude towards environment second most – in 1.45 percent.
