Members of the armed forces and police who have served for less than five years will be entitled to pension payments ten years later than their colleagues who signed up earlier, according to legislation approved by the government on Wednesday, January 9.
New members of the armed forces and the police will be entitled to a pension no sooner than after 25 years of service, rather than the present 15. Meanwhile, police officers and soldiers who join up after May 2013 will have to serve at least 13 years (instead of five years as at present) to be entitled to any severance pay.
