The Slovak Cabinet said it has allocated almost 99 million crowns to help regions affected by floods, said Lászlo Juhász, spokesman for Deputy Prime Minister Pál Csáky.
Eighteen million crowns are earmarked to cover costs associated with rescue works ordered by the Central, Regional and District Anti-Flood Commissions including the payment of wages and other expenditures associated with these works.
The Cabinet has also promised to pay out 30,000 crowns to each citizen who suffered flood damages exceeding 100,000 crowns, up to a maximum allocation of 43 million crowns. Another 37 million crowns are earmarked to cover 50% of all damages that floods caused to local roads, bridges, and pavements. The Ministry of Construction and Public Works is also examining other ways to provide support to fix damages to apartments.
