At a special session September 28, the Slovak Cabinet passed a draft strategy which aims to solve problems of the Roma community in Slovakia. At the same time, the ministers adopted guidelines to carry out the first stage of the plan's concrete tasks.
Deputy Prime Minister for Minorities and Human Rights Pál Csáky reported that this year the cabinet has devoted 15 million crowns to solve Roma problems, 8 million of which have already been dedicated. Next year 60 million crowns should be devoted to Roma assistance, and more money is expected to come from foreign institutions. More details about the new strategy, however, were not immediately available.
