Fico had said on June 23 that he would chair two more cabinet sessions. The session that was originally projected for June 30 was to be a "proper" session, while the one on July 7 was to have the character of a "farewell" get-together.

A new cabinet is currently being formed under the leadership of Prime Minister-designate Iveta Radičová. She has said that the new government's make-up, including individual ministers, will be announced by the opening parliamentary session due on July 8.

Fico has said that his Government will step down immediately after the opening parliamentary session in order to make it possible for the new government to assume power.
