On November 28, cabinet agreed to temporarily suspended all transfers of land plots to restitution claimants from the Slovak Land Fund (SPF). The move aimed to prevent speculative land transfers, following the dismissals of SPF deputy director Branislav Bríza and agriculture minister Miroslav Jureňa.
A working group is expected to be formed by Friday to prepare the necessary legislative changes. Parliament would then discuss them in shortened legislative proceedings, because Prime Minister Robert Fico wants to see results by January.
At its regular meeting on Wednesday, cabinet also approved the draft bill aimed at banning inappropriate conditions in business relations, known as the law on retail chains. However, it dropped the requirement that the parliament fast-track the legislative proceedings.
