Peter Mihók, president of the Slovak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SOPK), will be appointed the head of the Price Council, which will serve as an advisory authority to the Slovak Cabinet on price stability over the coming months.
According to the proposal to establish the council, which the Cabinet will discuss on September 24, Economy Minister Lubomir Jahnátek is to serve as its deputy chair and Finance Ministry State Secretary Peter Kazimír will be its secretary.
The council’s role will be to combat "groundless" price hikes during the euro changeover. It will have the power to issue orders to Cabinet ministers to implement necessary steps in case of unfavorable price development. SITA
