Cabinet wants less immunity for MPs

THE SLOVAK government approved a constitutional change on June 15 that would narrow the immunity of MPs exclusively to their statements and votes in parliament, and limit the protection of judges to their court verdicts, wrote the SME daily.

If the change is approved, MPs and judges could be prosecuted for crimes without the currently required approval of parliament and the Constitutional Court.

The proposed change also includes extending the powers of the Supreme Audit Authority.
