THE CANADIAN construction group Rockport has decided to build four plants in Slovakia that will focus on the production of affordable housing modules.
The estimated investment ranges between $56 million (€44.4 million) and $60 million (€47.5 million).
Ján Bajánek, head of the Slovak Investment and Trade Development Agency said that Rockport will employ up to 3,000 people, including those who will get jobs indirectly as a result of the investment. Each of the plants is expected to directly create 200 jobs.
The Slovak daily SME wrote that the company would focus on developing housing solutions for Roma, young families with children, pensioners, and the low-income population.
