Factories in Slovakia manufactured 459,749 cars last year, according to information published by automakers. Compared with 2008, this represented a 20 percent decline, or 116,000 fewer vehicles. In 2008, production rose by 4,700 vehicles compared to the previous year.
In 2009, Trnava-based PSA Peugeot Citroen Slovakia produced the most cars, 203,732, the SITA newswire wrote. It is the only carmaker in Slovakia which manufactured more cars in 2009 than in the previous year. Its production rose by more than 17,000 vehicles. In 2008, the biggest producer was Žilina-based Kia Motors Slovakia.
