A prosecutor has halted the prosecution of journalist Zuzana Petková for a story published in the Sme daily about the salary of Judge Gabriela Harabinová, the wife of Supreme Court President Štefan Harabin. The latter had filed the criminal motion against Petková.
The prosecutor said, as reported by Sme on Friday, January 18, that it was obvious that the defendant had not committed the alleged crime. Harabin commented that now the prosecution service can find the true perpetrator, who he alleged was "probably some political nominee of [former justice minister] Lucia Žitňanská", instead of "persecuting an innocent journalist".
