Slovakia's Central Bank (NBS) predicts the end-2006 inflation to reach 3.9 percent and the average inflation rate for 2006 to be 4.4 percent.
According to NBS estimations, in 2007, the consumer price index rise will fall to 2.8 percent and in 2008 to 2.0 percent, news wire TASR wrote.
The bank modified its predictions due to the expectations that consumer energy prices will be rising faster than expected.
In 2006, also steeper increases in foodstuff prices are expected. At the same time, there is a risk that the expected secondary effects and slight shift in economic cycle positions could lead to faster price rises in 2007.
