THE NATIONAL bank of Slovakia (NBS) forecasts continued strong
economic growth in the country. The central bank is forecasting that the economy
should grow by 4.9 percent in 2005, according to the business daily Hospodárske noviny.
Growth should reach a peak in 2007 when two major automotive
producers Hyndai Kia and Peugeot Citroen start full production in Slovakia.
According to the NBS, gross domestic product in 2007 will grow at
between 6 and 7.2 percent, while inflation will sink to less than 2
percent.
2008 will see economic growth falling back to 4.6 percent, according to NBS deputy-governor Elena Kohútiková.
