Central Bank keeps key interest rates on hold in August

In line with analysts' expectations, the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) again left key interest rates in Slovakia unchanged in August.

In line with analysts' expectations, the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) again left key interest rates in Slovakia unchanged in August.

Following a meeting of the NBS Bank Board on August 26, the two-week sterilization repo rate remains at 4.25 percent per annum. The NBS also left its one-day sterilization repo rate unchanged at 2.25 percent p.a. and the one-day refinancing rate at 5.75 percent p.a., the central bank told the SITA newswire.

The central bank has kept interest rates on hold since April last year. The NBS last decided to change interest rates in March and April 2007, cutting them by 25 basis points in each month. During 2006, the NBS changed its key interest rates four times. SITA
