THE AVERAGE monthly wage at the National Bank of Slovakia (NBS) reached Sk38,528 (€1,030) last year, more than twice the national average.
Furthermore, property declarations published by NBS officials for 2004 show its two vice-governors earned around Sk480,000 (€12,800) a month, and that the governor was paid at least that much, the Pravda daily wrote.
Other members of the board of directors earn around Sk250,000 (€6,670) per month.
An annual report states NBS employee expenditures reached Sk533 million (€14.2 million), while its total expenditures reached 52.7 billion (€1.4 billion). The bank spent the most money on withdrawing excessive money from the market.
The NBS reported a loss of Sk663 million (€17.7 million), which can be mainly attributed to a different-than-expected development of the Slovak crown.
