The Slovak Spectator (TSS): How did the idea of the website Lovci Šarlatánov come into being?

Maroš Rudnay (MR): The idea came some time ago, when me and my colleagues were still students, some of us graduates in medicine. It was spontaneous, we wanted to start a website that would point out the nonsense claims related to medicine. There were several websites that published enormous nonsense, and we wanted to respond. In the beginning, we worked on Facebook, later we started the blog.

TSS: How do you choose the topics to write about?

MR: There are about ten people on the team, everyone has a free choice for a topic. Every story is checked by several other authors – like a peer-review that should ensure the best information value. Unfortunately, there are not so many stories these days, as we all work as doctors or medical staff, many also as researchers and teachers so there is not so much time for writing blogs.
