Slovak Archbishop Ján Sokol has raised a storm of controversy by urging voters, through a church circular ahead of this month’s elections, not to vote for “atheists and unbelievers, liberals or former communists.”
Sokol also said his flock should not vote for “a party whose leader, through his television station, is corrupting the nation and its most valuable asset – its youth,” in apparent reference to Ano party leader Pavol Rusko, part-owner of the Markíza television station.
