General Prosecutor Dobroslav Trnka has joined in a political battle for the post of General Prosecutor, thereby disqualifying himself from holding the post, Peter Zajac, chairman of the Civil Conservative Party (OKS), elected to Parliament on Most-Hid's slate, told the TASR newswire on December 8.
Zajac said that by lambasting Interior Minister Daniel Lipšic, Interior Ministry State Secretary Maroš Źilinka (KDH) and Police Corps President Jaroslav Spišiak, Trnka went beyond the boundaries of neutrality as expected from a prosecutor.
Trnka earlier on December 8 held at a press conference at which he claimed that the Interior Ministry had put pressure on the investigator who was dealing with the case of a recording on which a voice similar to that of Smer chairman Robert Fico talks about securing money to run the political party.
Trnka's bid for re-election as General Prosecutor is supported by Smer while the governing coalition is pledged to replace him.
