Gustáv Ulický, one of the fathers of the legendary Czechoslovak moped, the Babetta, has passed away. His son Vladimír informed the TASR newswire that Ulický died on April 7, at 82.
Born on December 9, 1931 in Považský Chlmec, Ulický worked for more than 40 years in the production of two-wheeled motor vehicles at the Považie Engineering Factory, which formed the basis for the later development of small agricultural machinery.
In March 2012, the Homeland Museum in Považská Bystrica published his book The History of Development and Production of Two-wheeled Motor Vehicles in the Town of Považská Bystrica, which recalls with nostalgia the faded glory of motorbike production in the Považie region.
Another passion of Ulický’s was the local music scene, and he also wrote The History of Musical Culture of the Town Považská Bystrica, published in late 2013.
