COMPANIES registered with the National Register of Emission Quotas are obliged to deliver a certified report to the Environment Ministry by March 15 on their CO2 emissions produced in 2005. By the end of April, they have to transfer to the ministry's account a portion of allocated emission quotas equaling the issued emissions, SITA news agency writes.
"If the ministry does not have the quotas in its account by this deadline, the company will automatically pay sanctions per each ton of emissions not covered by a quota," said Gabriela Fischerová from the Environment Ministry's Department for Air Protection at a press conference on January 16.
The national register launched full operations at the end of 2005. Currently 127 companies in Slovakia with 168 production units are required to report to the National Register of Emission Quotas.
