SMER, the Slovak National Party (SNS), and the Movement for a Democratic Slovakia (HZDS) have already agreed on the division of posts in the new government to be named on July 4.

Smer will receive 11 cabinet posts, the SNS three and the HZDS two. The SNS will head the education, construction and regional development and environment ministries, while the HZDS will have the justice and agriculture posts, SME wrote.

Smer will also have the right to nominate the Speaker of Parliament, and the HZDS and SNS will get one deputy speaker each. The opposition will nominate the fourth.

According to SME, former central bank vice governor Elena Kohútiková has been offered the position of finance minister, though she has denied those reports. Diplomat Ján Kubiš, the former secretary general at the OSCE, could become the new foreign affairs minister and Ivan Valentovič, the head of the Spoločná zdravotná poisťovňa health insurance company, could become the health minister.

Smer's Pavol Paška will probably become the economy minister and Robert Kaliňák is slated to be the new defense minister.

The HZDS is prepared to nominate Štefan Harabin, the former head of Slovakia's Supreme Court, to be the new justice minister.
