Commercial flights to resume from Sliač airport after a two-year break

After nearly two years, commercial flights will return to the Sliač airport when reconstruction of a runway, financed from NATO money, is completed, the SITA newswire reported.

After nearly two years, commercial flights will return to the Sliač airport when reconstruction of a runway, financed from NATO money, is completed, the SITA newswire reported.

Preparations are culminating to enable regular use of the military airport for civil operation. The restoration of commercial transport at Sliač stems from an agreement between the Defence Ministry and the Ministry of Transport, Construction and Regional Development.

The Defence Ministry will be in charge of arrivals, departures, landings and takeoffs, the SITA newswire wrote. The airport company Letisko Sliač, will provide handling and check-in services, explained Defence Minister Ľubomír Galko.
