Consortium of 4 companies tables lowest bid for D3 highway stretch

A consortium of four companies - Váhostav-SK, Doprastav, Strabag and Metrostav - has submitted the lowest bid to construct a section of the D3 motorway from Svrčinovec to Skalité (in the Žilina region) near the Polish border, the TASR newswire learned on Wednesday, August 15.

The consortium has tabled an offer worth €329.9 million to construct the 12-kilometre stretch, while another consortium featuring Hant BA DS and INC S.p.A has submitted a bid worth €334.9 million. Next came a bid by OHL ZS worth €337.9 million, while a consortium of Eurovia, Stavby mostov ('Bridge Construction') Slovakia and Tubau is offering to build the stretch for €351 million. The National Highway Company (NDS) had estimated the cost to reach €365.5 million. The section is projected to include two tunnels – in Svrčinovec and Poľana.
