THE PARLIAMENTARY commission that decides on security screening appeals to the Slovak National Security Office (NBÚ)from unsuccessful candidates, was abolished by verdict of the Constitutional Court, the Pravda daily wrote.
The court found that the operation of the commission, composed of Slovak MPs, is in conflict with the Slovak Constitution.
The Slovak Parliament now quickly has to agree on a different form of appeals authority that will review the NBÚ decisions.
Smer member and the head of the parliamentary defence committee Robert Kaliňák disagrees with the court’s verdict, arguing that the commission was an expert body that operated without any political pressure.
