Constitutional Court rejects complaint of Miloslava Zemková
The Constitutional Court turned down the complaint of Miloslava Zemková over her dismissal by Parliament from the post of Radio and Television Slovakia's (RTVS) general director due to "apparent lack of substantiation [of the allegations] and the lack of powers of the Constitutional Court".
It was the Senate II, made up of chairman Lajos Mészáros and judges Juraj Horváth and Sergej Kohut, that arrived at this verdict on December 13, reads the Constitutional Court's website without any further details. Zemková was dismissed on June 26 in a secret ballot, based on a proposal of the parliamentary media committee, the official reason being that she went public with a tender on renting a media complex for RTVS without providing prior written notification of her intentions to the RTVS Board. A total of 82 out of 85 MPs present voted for her ousting, with two MPs voting against and one abstaining, the TASR newswire wrote. The opposition stood behind Zemková and refused to vote. Subsequently, Zemková filed a complaint with the Constitutional Court, citing a violation of her basic rights.
