On Wednesday, April 20, the Slovak Constitutional Court ruled that a parliamentary vote held on December 7, 2011, to select the general prosecutor was invalid, as the rights of one of the candidates, Dobroslav Trnka, who at the time was the incumbent general prosecutor, were violated. The vote was inconclusive, with Trnka failing by one vote to be selected.
The court, sitting in Košice, nullified the December 7 vote and ordered it to be repeated so that all constitutional rules are observed, the TASR newswire wrote.
