Consumer prices rose 0.6 percent on an annual basis in October but recorded no change when compared to September, the Slovak Statistics Office (ŠÚ) reported November 12.
Year-on-year price hikes were recorded in education (5.7 percent); in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (3 percent); in food and non-alcoholic beverages (1.8 percent); in hotels, cafes and restaurants (1.5 percent); in recreation and culture (1.4 percent); in clothing and footwear (0.9 percent); in health care (0.5 percent); and in accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (0.2 percent). Conversely, prices fell on an annual basis in transport (2.3 percent); in postal services and telecommunications (1 percent); in miscellaneous goods and services (0.2 percent); and in furniture, household equipment and ordinary household maintenance (0.1 percent).
Month-on-month increases were posted in clothing and footwear (1.5 percent); in alcoholic beverages and tobacco (0.6 percent); in health care (0.5 percent); in recreation and culture and in miscellaneous goods and services (both 0.2 percent); and in education and in hotels, cafes and restaurants (both 0.1 percent). Prices dropped on a monthly basis in transport (0.8 percent); in food and non-alcoholic beverages (0.4 percent); and in furniture, household equipment and ordinary household maintenance (0.1 percent).
Prices in postal and telecommunications services and in accommodation, water, electricity, gas and other fuels remained flat in a month-on-month comparison, the TASR newswire quoted the ŠÚ report.
