THE SUPREME Court has confirmed the Antitrust Office (PMÚ) verdict according to which Slovak Telecom (ST) abused its dominant market position when introducing its ADSL Internet service and imposed an Sk20 million (€530,000) fine.
PMÚ spokesman Miroslav Jurkovič told the SITA news agency that the verdict is not yet in force, however. The decision will take effect when it is delivered to all parties involved.
The PMÚ launched administrative proceedings against ST in June 2002 based on a motion filed by the Association of Internet Providers. The authority was examining conditions for high speed ADSL Internet access to end-users.
The PMÚ concluded that the ST enforced inappropriate business conditions on the competitors and misused its dominant position in the provision of these services.
