The only court which does not join it is the Supreme Court. The courts will, however, not be closed.
The strike does not concern the judges, only the administrative employees who are responsible for the courts’ operation. Moreover, the registries will have to be open, the daily wrote.
Filip Demo, chair of the strike committee, said that the so far lowest attendance in strike was reported by the Banská Bystrica Regional Court where only 58 of 100 employees will take part. The number of protesters at the district court in Banská Bystrica is much higher. As many as 92 of 95 employees will join, while in district court in Brezno it will be 39 of 42 employees, the TASR newswire wrote.
The Justice Ministry will try to secure the operation of courts, especially those where 100 percent of employees will participate in strike, Demo said.
The courts’ employees enter the strike with four conditions: to increase the budget of the Justice Ministry by one-quarter, to secure the operation of courts, to immediately create a law on the status of employees in judiciary, and to improve the socio-economic situation of employees in judiciary, TASR wrote.
The requirements have already been supported by the Justice Ministry, leaders of most courts, councils of judges, the Judicial Council and several judicial associations.
