The German owner of a large concert tent that collapsed at Slovakia's biggest open-air music festival Pohoda in Trenčín in July was ordered by a court to pay €6,639 to the organisers of the event, the SITA newswire reported.
The tent collapsed during a windstorm claiming one fatality immediately and injuring dozens of people. One young woman died later in hospital as the result of serious injuries she suffered in the tent collapse.
The Trenčín District Court issued the payment order to the German company Landauer-Weihnachtscircus GmbH, Roman Tarabus, the court's spokesman, told SITA.
The organizers filed a motion with the District Court in Trenčín to claim damages from the owner of the tent. The court's spokesman specified that the order has not taken effect yet and if the plaintiff appeals the decision within the legal deadline, the payment order will be cancelled in full and the court will order a full trial.
The organisers of the festival asked the court to seize the tent for its thorough examination as its owner wanted to take it back to Germany. The police are still investigating the tragedy. SITA
