TWO of the recent reform laws on health will be sent for a ruling to the Constitutional Court by the end of January 2005, according to the daily Pravda.
The two laws in question are the law on the extension of healthcare and the health insurance law. MPs from the Smer and Free Forum parties are preparing a joint appeal three months after the six reforms were approved by Parliament.
"We wanted to prepare it properly," Pavol Paška, of Smer, said of the appeal. Their main concern is that people will have to make compulsory insurance payments to health insurers, which are actually private joint-stock companies.
This means that money that would previously have been public will flow into private corporations.
The Smer and Free Forum MPs want to ask the court for temporary measures to stop health insurers being transformed into joint-stock companies.
