SLOVAKIA’S cabinet will not evaluate the measures it has adopted this year to counter the effects of the financial and economic crisis before October 2009, Economy Minister Ľubomír Jahnátek stated following a September 2 cabinet meeting, adding that the government will wait until the end of the third quarter of 2009 to undertake the assessment, the SITA newswire reported.
“We have stated several times that individual measures are being implemented at present,” Jahnátek said, as quoted by SITA. “We need time to assess them, so we expect the situation to be monitored at least until the third quarter ends and then we will see whether some measures will be cancelled or complemented.”
Jahnátek failed to say whether the cabinet would pursue more measures.
“More crisis measures will not be taken to PM Robert Fico before he convenes the next meeting of the Council for the Economic Crisis,” SITA quoted the minister as saying.
