THE SLOVAK crown again posted a new historical high yesterday, hitting the Sk37.20 to the euro mark, the daily SME reported.

Since the beginning of 2005 the crown has gained Sk0.70 against the euro. Thanks to the currency appreciation imported goods and holidays abroad are cheaper for Slovaks.

The new Slovak crown record came following the news of approval for the Polish state budget.

However, according to analysts, further appreciation of the currency may be halted by the end of the year as the Central European countries are up for a wave of general elections, which makes local markets insecure.
