Ethnic-Hungarian SMK party leader Pál Csáky will continue to lead the party as delegates of its convention in Rimavská Sobota expressed confidence in him in a secret vote on Saturday, October 17, SMK's parliamentary caucus chairman Gyula Bárdos announced on the same day to the TASR newswire wrote.
A total of 270 out of 297 party members present at the event expressed their support for Csáky, while 25 were against him and two votes were void. A total of 326 delegates attended the convention.
“It's a clear signal that Csáky has the confidence and support of SMK delegates, hence he also has the backing of SMK members and voters,” said Bárdos to TASR. The confidence vote in Csáky was held at his own request. Csáky sought the move after 160 members left the party, mostly to join the newly-emerged Most-Hid – led by former leader Béla Bugár.
