THE FORMER leader of the Hungarian Coalition Party (SMK), Pál Csáky, reportedly presented police officers with his old identification card as a member of parliament even though he has not had a seat there for almost two years, the Noviny.sk website reported.
According to Noviny.sk, Csáky was stopped by the police after making a U-turn at a Bratislava crossroads where such manoeuvres are prohibited.
After the police officers told him that his MP’s card was not valid, he reportedly became irritated, the website wrote.
“The published information is tendentious, inaccurate and false,” Csáky told the SITA newswire, adding that he did not show his expired MP’s identification card but rather presented another valid identification card.
He also told SITA that he had passed all other police tests, including the test for alcohol, and had paid the €60 fine without protest.
