Cutting into forestry corruption

Several senior forestry officials have been fired after they were found to have permitted the illegal felling of about 70 large spruce trees in a protected area in central Slovakia called Rovne.

The officials allowed the trees to be felled without ordering a professional evaluation or even marking their targets.
