According to TASR Newsservice, Cyprus President Tassos Papadopoulos has praised the work of Slovak soldiers serving in the United Nations Peacekeeping mission on the Mediterranean island. Papadopoulos's remarks came as incoming Slovak Ambassador Anna Tureničová presented her credentials to the Cypriot president on Wednesday.
Papadopoulos also praised the active role played by Slovak diplomats in organizing regular meetings between members of the divided Greek-Cypriot and Turkish-Cypriot communities.
Tureničová assured the Cyprus president that Slovak representatives in Nicosia will continue in their role as mediators on the divided island.
