Czech president visits Banská Bystrica

Czech President Václav Klaus visited Banská Bystrica on Tuesday, June 28. "We're happy to be here and we see a visible and clear improvement taking place in Slovakia," said Klaus, as quoted by the TASR newswire.

He was accompanied by his wife Lívia. Klaus visited the Memorial of the Slovak National Uprising (SNP) and laid wreaths. He then met the mayor of Banská Bystrica, Peter Gogola. The two enjoyed a traditional drink of borovička (a juniper-flavoured spirit) and discussed the future development of the city and co-operation with its partner city in the Czech Republic, Hradec Králové.
