A group of tourists were floating on the Dunajec River when a cloudburst and storm surprised them which caused an avalanche of water, mud and stones hitting their boat and breaking it into several pieces.

“There were three people injured, and one elderly tourist drowned,” the head of the Kežmarok fire fighters, Erich Lauf, told the SITA newswire. The accident occurred shortly before the end of their trip, above the village of Lesnica. The drowned man was found there and the rest of the tourists were rescued. The Kežmarok firemen said they do not remember any similar cases. SITA
