From April 2012, Slovak airline Danube Wings will fly from Bratislava and Košice to Venice three times a week. The new route will be operated in cooperation with Italian carrier Megaride Air, making use of support it receives from Venice Airport and from local administration and businesses.
Megaride Air will also pay some of the costs of operating the route. "I believe that the new route will be extensively used not only by the business travellers for whom it's primarily being opened, but also by tourists from both countries," Danube Wings director-general Ján Rostaš told the SITA newswire on Tuesday, February 21.
The route will open on April 6, 2012, with a flight from Bratislava taking approximately 90 minutes. Flights from Košice will take around 4 hours, including a 90-minute stopover in Bratislava.
