THE SLOVAK Defence Minister Juraj Liška told the National Security Council that he has no information regarding a terrorist attack on Slovakia, the TASR news agency reported.
The Security Council discussed a security report presented by the Military Intelligence Service as well as a proposal to classify sites such as nuclear power plants or dams as facilities having special importance for state defence.
These must be guarded on the assumption of a possible terrorist attack.
"That possibility is there and these facilities therefore are classified in such a way because they could spawn considerable damage in the event of a catastrophe," said Liška.
The council also discussed the amendment to the law on civil aviation under which the minister would have the power to shoot down civil aircraft that could be used as a means of terrorist attack.
