Defence Ministry to fill NATO and EU positions

THE SLOVAK Defence Ministry is working on a proposal to fill 171 positions at NATO and the European Union, assigned to Slovakia by NATO's Atlantic Council and the EU Council, the TASR news wire wrote.

Forty members of the armed forces would be assigned to the Slovak Standing Delegation to NATO in Brussels and national representative offices at the alliance-regional headquarters in The Netherlands, Germany, and Poland. A further 131 officers are to be placed at the headquarters, committees, agencies and other units of NATO and the EU in Belgium, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Poland or the US.

The dispatch of Slovak soldiers abroad is subject to parliamentary approval.
